Description
The 75 × 38mm hardwood rail is the heavy-duty counterpart to the standard pine bottom rail. Harder, denser — it’s the correct rail to pair with hardwood posts and palings, and a genuine upgrade for any pine fence where longevity is the priority.
Treated to H3 Hazard Class with CCA preservative. Hardwood naturally has better durability credentials than pine.
Pine vs Hardwood Rails
Pine rails are lighter and more affordable — fine for standard residential fencing. Hardwood rails are considerably heavier and harder to work with power tools (use sharp, carbide-tipped blades). For a hardwood fence, use hardwood rails throughout. For a pine fence where you want better-performing rails, switching to hardwood is a cost-effective upgrade.
