Description
The 200 × 50mm hardwood sleeper brings premium performance to garden edging, raised beds, and low retaining wall applications. Where pine sleepers are the practical, affordable option, hardwood sleepers are the feature piece — denser, harder-wearing, and with the rich natural grain that only hardwood delivers. If these sleepers are going somewhere visible and you want them to look good in ten years, hardwood is the right call.
Treated to H4 Hazard Class with CCA preservative — fully rated for in-ground contact and soil exposure. Hardwood’s naturally higher density and tighter grain structure means it resists moisture ingress and decay significantly better than pine even before the CCA treatment is factored in.

Hardwood sleepers are significantly heavier than pine — plan your site handling accordingly. They are also harder to cut; use carbide-tipped blades. For retaining walls over 1000mm in height, engineering advice and council approval may be required. Sold individually.
