Description
The 200 × 50mm pine sleeper is the entry-level timber sleeper — versatile, affordable, and H4 treated for reliable outdoor performance. At 200mm tall with a 50mm face, it’s the right size for single-course garden edging, multi-course raised garden beds, and low-height retaining wall applications where the soil load isn’t excessive.
Treated to H4 Hazard Class with CCA preservative — rated for in-ground contact. H4 treatment is the correct specification for sleepers being used as garden edging, raised beds, or retaining walls where the timber is in direct contact with soil and moisture. Do not use H3-rated timber in soil contact applications.
Pine vs Hardwood Sleepers — Which Should I Choose?
Pine sleepers are lighter, significantly more affordable, and easy to cut and handle on site — a great choice for DIY garden projects, raised beds, and low retaining walls. Hardwood sleepers are denser, heavier, and more resistant to physical wear and long-term decay — the better choice for taller retaining walls and heavier soil loads.

Need to Know
CCA treated timber has a characteristic green tint that naturally weathers to grey outdoors. Always treat cut ends with an end-grain preservative. For retaining walls 1000mm high and over, engineering and council approval may be required — check your local requirements. Sold individually.
